We have found that well installed radon mitigation systems operate well over a long time. The first clue whether your system is operating properly is to conduct a radon test and find out if the radon level is higher than you want to live with. Next, inspecting the manometer on the radon vent pipe monthly for its proper value for your system, a value that is often indicated on a sticker on the radon vent pipe next to the manometer, may tell a home owner or occupant if the fan is still working as originally installed. A loud sound with excessive vibration from the fan may indicate also that it maybe time to have a new fan installed. This is usually after many years (ten to fifteen years) for properly installed systems. Nevertheless, over the years we have found many radon systems were not correctly installed originally. This may be the case when incomplete systems were installed, such as crawl spaces were not tied in with the radon vent pipe, or complete, independent concrete slabs were not connected to the main vent pipe. We can repair all such systems. In fact with 20 years experience we have installed over 2500 complete, new radon mitigation systems we have in addition repaired many existing systems. We found many that were incomplete or entirely incorrectly installed to start with. Also, if the measured radon concentration is not as low as you want it to be, Dr. Moorman can design a system that will lower it further. If you want this done, go to the “Request a quote” button on the top of this page and fill out as completely as possible what the problem you suspect is and he will contact you.
