…because high radon in your home can cause lung cancer.

Many  people think of Colorado as the place where you can breathe fresh air in the mountains, but did you know that the radioactivity from radon is a known problem inside the majority of homes in the State of Colorado?

Did you also know that the type of house does not have an effect on whether there is a radon problem? The latest radon map by the Colorado Department of Health and Environment (CDPHE) indicating the potential of high radon in homes shows that all counties are in the red zone, meaning they have the highest rating for potential high radon.

Therefore, you can reduce your family’s risk for lung cancer by having a radon test done, and if it is high, by mitigating the home.

RADON INFO:

Facts about radon and its known damage to our health:

– Elevated radon concentrations have been known scientifically to cause lung cancer since the mid 1950’s, and high levels in homes were first looked for, and found in the 1980’s.

– Radon is the second-leading cause of lung cancer for the general population in the USA, and the leading cause among non-smokers (These are never smokers or people who have not smoked for 25 years). It was known as black lung disease,  frequently attracted by miners due to breathing what they thought was ‘dust’ in coal mines.

– More than 21,000 people per year in the USA are acquiring radon related lung cancer according to an estimate by the EPA, and over 500 people per year in the State of Colorado, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

What is it what we do

We save the lives of homeowners’, their families’ and occupants’ by preventing lung cancer.

How do we save lives?

– by performing certified radon testing, and completing larger radon measurement Surveys,

– by installing Interior and Exterior radon Mitigation Systems, including crawl spaces if present.

– by Activating passive Radon Mitigation Systems,

– by installing Super Low Noise Exterior radon mitigation systems,

– by installing Energy Efficient radon mitigation systems,

– By Applying Advanced Engineering Designs in more challenging situations such as difficult-to-mitigate homes

– By repairing systems or completing them when they are installed incomplete.

More can be found about radon testing here, and about radon mitigation here.

Which type of projects have we done in the past?

– Single Family, Multiple Family Homes, Large Buildings, Schools,

– Large Testing Surveys (up to 450 test locations in a single survey),

– Real Estate Transactions, and Rental Units, Testing and Mitigation.

Guaranty and past track record by RHMM:

– Post-mitigation concentration will be guaranteed below 4.0 pCi/L, our target however is to be below 2.0 pCi/L,

– RHMM has as of January 2020 completed over 4,500 certified radon test reports, and has installed more than 2,500 radon mitigation systems in existing and new homes.

About  RHMM:

– Our president, Dr. Leo Moorman, frequently contributes talks and papers at international radon conferences. He is an educator and trainer of others in the industry, holds a Ph.D. in Physics and has more than 20 years experience in the radon industry. He is also a certified measurement specialist, certified mitigator and operates a certified radon testing laboratory.

 Our Mission:

Radon Home Measurement and Mitigation (RHMM) performs radon testing of single and multi-family homes, as well as radon testing in large buildings, schools, and business offices, provides radon mitigation services and delivers radon education to interested groups and the public. We help with radon issues emerging during real estate transactions, helping real estate brokers, buyers and sellers to understand and deal with what could be a serious environmental health issue. Our goal is to identify those places that represent a high radon exposure to the general public and, after verification of an increased health risk, to fix the problem. Furthermore, we work with home owners, contractors and builders by installing passive mitigation systems where Code requires or home owners request this during new construction. RHMM can install Super Low Noise (SLN) exterior systems in existing homes and Low Energy Loss (LEL) systems in New homes construction with in-floor heat. RHMM, located in Fort Collins, can solve radon problems anywhere in Northern Colorado and Southeast Wyoming..

At RHMM we perform radon testing, design and install quality, interior and exterior radon mitigation systems in homes, large buildings, and schools.
